LUNG HEALTH PROGRAM

Types of Patients Seen

New Vision is currently restructuring its Lung Health Program. Moving forward, our Clinical Pharmacists will provide counselling for patients with a history of asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), as well as provide counselling for smoking cessation.

Spirometry assessments will be performed externally, as required.  These may be completed at the St. Mary's General Hospital (SMGH) Airway Clinic, Cardio Pulmonary Services (CPS), or another appropriate location. A referral is required for spirometry assessment.

What to Expect

The Clinical Pharmacist will assist you by:

  • Identifying triggers and discussing trigger avoidance
  • Discussing symptom monitoring and identifying when your Asthma or COPD is controlled or uncontrolled Discussing strategies to keep your condition well-controlled
  • Developing a personalized Action Plan to manage your condition if it becomes uncontrolled
  • Developing a personalized quit smoking plan

During your phone appointment you can expect:

  • Your respiratory health and medication history will be collected and reviewed
  • Your respiratory medications will be reviewed including how  to use them properly
