Walk and Talk Wellness Group:
Looking to boost your energy? Do you want to be more active but have difficulty getting started? Do you enjoy walking? If yes, join our Walk and Talk Wellness Group!
The purpose of this group is to provide a supported exercise and activation program for people who may be isolated, coping with mental health or other chronic health conditions. The educational component will incorporate mindfulness, stress management strategies, nutrition information and social support. Our hope is to enhance lifestyle change and get people moving for physical and mental health!
These sessions are held at the Waterloo Rec Complex located at 101 Father David Bauer Drive in Waterloo.
A waiver form will be required prior to joining the group.
Walk at your own pace. Everyone is welcome!

Nutrition for a Healthy Lifestyle (previously Healthy Steps):
The purpose of this group is to provide evidence-based food and nutrition information on topics, such as healthy eating, food label reading, meal planning, emotional eating, physical activity and much more! These sessions are facilitated at the New Vision Family Health Team main site (23B- 421 Greenbrook Drive in Kitchener) by one our Registered Dietitians.

1. Heart Healthy Eating - In celebration of Heart Month starting in February, join us for this workshop on lifestyle management and prevention of cardiovascular disease. We will share valuable information covering key nutrients and dietary strategies that will help you on your journey to a healthy heart.

2. The Glycemic Index - This topic is back by popular demand! In this workshop, learn all about how your blood sugars respond to different types of foods. Discover how to balance your meals and snacks to achieve more stable blood sugars and feel your best!

Craving Change (4-week series):
This 4-week "how-to" workshop series focuses on helping you change your relationship with food. Understand WHY you eat the way you do, comfort yourself without food, change your thinking, change your eating. This workshop takes place at New Vision, but registration is completed through the Waterloo-Wellington Self-Management Program.

Community Workshops
The Waterloo-Wellington Self-Management Program offers a variety of workshops (available online or in-person) to support you with getting the most out of life while living with a chronic condition. The following programs are offered for FREE in the region of Waterloo Wellington. If you have any questions about the Self-Management Program workshops and/or want to be put on the wait list, please contact Justine (Admin. 1. Craving Change: This 4-week program helps you understand why you eat the way you do. It is led by health care professionals certified in the program, and is offered at various locations throughout the region.
2. Better Sleep: This program will help you learn strategies to relax your mind and body, to decrease insomnia, and to fall asleep or back to sleep easier.
3. Take Charge- Chronic Pain: This 6 week workshop is for people struggling with chronic or persistent pain. It is led by certified Peer Leaders in a community setting.
4. Dial It Down: This program helps you develop strong skills in releasing body tension, calming and focusing the mind.
5. Mindful Awareness Stabilization Training (M.A.S.T): This 4-week program introduces mindfulness practices that will help individuals to feel more balanced and present in their lives.
6. Powerful Tools for Caregivers: This 6- week interactive workshop series is designed to help caregivers develop a wealth of self-care tools.
7. Diabetes Self-Management Workshop: This 6- week program was developed to support individuals living with Type 2 Diabetes and their families to help manage their diabetes.
