The New Vision Family Health Team offers of variety of workshops to our patients and community.  Please complete the form below to attend.

Walk and Talk:

These sessions are facilitated by one our Social Worker and Registered Dietitian and will be held indoor at the Waterloo Rec Complex located at 101 Father David Bauer Drive in Waterloo. (Please meet at the concession area near the swimming pool).

Date: Spring Session (6-week series) - Thursdays starting April 4 to May 9, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.

Topic: These sessions focus on nutrition/stress management, boosting energy and engaging in more active lifestyle. 

Healthy Steps:

These sessions are facilitated by one of our Registered Dietitians and is in-person at the New Vision Family Health Team main site (23B- 421 Greenbrook Drive in Kitchener).

How to Achieve a Healthy Gut

When: Wednesday April 24, 2024 at 4:30pm (1 hour duration)

Description: In this workshop, we will explore the key components of a healthy gut, practical dietary strategies for optimal digestion, and lifestyle habits that promote gut wellness. Discover how to nourish your body from within and empower yourself with knowledge to support long-term digestive harmony.

Budget-Friendly Eating

When: Thursday May 30, 2024 at 4:30pm (1 hour duration)

Description: With the increased price of food, we could all use some cost-saving tips! Join us for this workshop and learn how to navigate your grocery shopping and plan nutritious, balanced meals without breaking the bank. 

Understanding Food Labels

When: Wednesday June 26, 2024 at 4:30pm (1 hour duration)

Description: In this workshop, we will learn how nutrition information on food labels can help you make informed food choices. We will explore the Nutrition Facts Table and provide tips to help you better understand the information on these labels.

Community Workshops

The Waterloo-Wellington Self-Management Program offers a variety of workshops (available online or in-person) to support you with getting the most out of life while living with a chronic condition. The following programs are offered for FREE in the region of Waterloo Wellington. If you have any questions about the Self-Management Program workshops and/or want to be put on the wait list, please contact Justine (Admin. 1. Craving Change: This 4-week program helps you understand why you eat the way you do.  It is led by health care professionals certified in the program, and is offered at various locations throughout the region.

2. Better Sleep: This program will help you learn strategies to relax your mind and body, to decrease insomnia, and to fall asleep or back to sleep easier.

3. Take Charge- Chronic Pain: This 6 week workshop is for people struggling with chronic or persistent pain.  It is led by certified Peer Leaders in a community setting.

4. Dial It Down: This program helps you develop strong skills in releasing body tension, calming and focusing the mind.

5. Mindful Awareness Stabilization Training (M.A.S.T):  This 4-week program introduces mindfulness practices that will help individuals to feel more balanced and present in their lives.

6. Powerful Tools for Caregivers: This 6- week interactive workshop series is designed to help caregivers develop a wealth of self-care tools.

7. Diabetes Self-Management Workshop: This 6- week program was developed to support individuals living with Type 2 Diabetes and their families to help manage their diabetes.
